Toxopheresis®, a gentle form of extracorporeal blood purification

What is Toxopheresis® ?

Toxopheresis® is an extracorporeal blood purification procedure in which blood is passed through a multi-stage double filtration system outside the body. The aim of this procedure is to reduce certain substances circulating in the blood that may be associated with systemic stress on the organism.

As part of this process, environmental pollutants, inflammation-associated molecules, and immunologically active components, among other things, can be filtered out of the bloodstream. Toxopheresis® is part of a holistic medical approach that aims to relieve stress on the body and support regulatory processes.

The procedure can be used as part of individual therapy concepts for existing health problems as well as preventively, for example to support metabolic and immunological regulatory processes.

Different stages of double filtration in Toxopheresis®.

Toxopheresis® effectively removes harmful molecules, antibodies, pathogenic substances, and environmental toxins, supporting your health.

Principle of Treatment

Toxopheresis® is based on the principle of double-filter membrane apheresis. During treatment, blood is continuously removed from the body, filtered, and then returned.

The treatment usually takes about 2–3 hours and is carried out under constant medical and nursing supervision to ensure a high level of safety and comfort.

Relevant environmental pollutants can affect the body. Toxopheresis® supports the targeted elimination of these harmful substances.

Blood values that can be influenced and affected by environmental factors. Toxopheresis® helps to restore balance to these values.

Duration: approx. 2–3 hours. The treatment is carried out under constant supervision by our experienced specialist staff to ensure your safety and comfort.

Differentiation of Inuspheresis®

Toxopheresis® and INUSpheresis® are based on the same medical-technical principle of double filtration apheresis. These are not different modes of action, but rather different technical implementations of this procedure.

Toxopheresis® is characterized in particular by adapted fluid management, gentle plasma treatment without additional dilution, and optimized temperature control. These properties can contribute to a stable circulatory situation and a smooth treatment process. The choice of the respective procedure is made on an individual basis and is medically justified.

Possible application areas in medical therapy concepts

Toxopheresis® is used at the Swiss Mountain Clinic as a complementary measure within individual medical concepts, especially for patients with complex systemic stress.

These include, among others:

Chronic inflammatory and systemic stress conditions, e.g.:

  • Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Long-lasting effects of infection or inflammation
  • Environmental health-related stressors

Autoimmune and immunological regulatory disorders, e.g.:

  • Systemic autoimmune diseases
  • Functional disorders of the immune system

Metabolic and vascular diseases, e.g.:

  • Microcirculation disorders
  • Endothelial dysfunction
  • Metabolism-related vascular stress
  • Post-COVID-related vascular problems

Note: The areas of application mentioned do not constitute a promise of effectiveness or healing. Toxopheresis® is not a substitute for conventional medical diagnosis or therapy.
