The liver - our mother

The liver's ability to eliminate toxins requires the ability to differentiate and evaluation, otherwise detoxification will not work.

Introduction

We humans do not maintain our health by consulting the best doctor or by simply eating a lot, but by understanding and then deciding. This requires knowledge. Let me share this with you.

If you cannot assess what is good for you or what is not good for you, then excess can arise. Not only on a material level, but also on the level of our own values, attitudes to life, beliefs or world views. These feed both excessive demands for expansion and ideals that are too high.

Only when we humans find our balance again and allow energy to flow freely through the liver-gallbladder meridian are we able and have the potential to make decisions in our lives and bring heaven down to earth ourselves.

Why your liver is so important: understanding its key functions

  • Metabolism hub
  • Metabolism / insulin metabolism
  • Provision of sufficient bile
  • Hormone metabolism and immune defense

Even when our body is at rest, the liver requires around ¼ of the total energy expenditure. By comparison, the heart only requires 7% and the brain around 9%. This is due to the fact that the liver is our most important metabolic hub and the number one detoxification center. Alongside the intestines, kidneys, skin, lungs, and lymphatic system, the liver is in first place! It fulfills around 500 functions in human metabolism. Among other things, it is responsible for the metabolism of carbohydrates, insulin metabolism, providing sufficient bile to digest fatty foods, stimulating intestinal peristalsis, and binding toxins. An intact protein metabolism depends on it; it stores iron and produces coagulation factors. It also has important functions in the context of hormone metabolism and sufficient immune capacity.

The liver through the ages: how technology is changing regulation

Time and again, we underestimate the dangers that our mechanization, modernization and industrialization have brought to our society and our daily lives. Our liver now has to detoxify around 75,000 different toxins. These range from pesticides in our food, plasticizers in plastic, lead and cadmium in dyed textiles, to the side effects of medication and genetically modified injections.

An example:

We call peri- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) the most persistent chemicals in the world. These man-made chemicals do not occur in nature.

They are only destroyed at a temperature of 1,100°C. They are not subject to their own degradation process for 1,000 years. These chemicals are characterized by their grease and water repellent properties and are therefore widely used in households and industry.

99% of all people are exposed to these chemicals through daily use due to their stability and mobility.

However, if the liver can only maintain the detoxification process for us inadequately, then laboratory values or an ultrasound scan alone will never show the extent of its functional disorder. Symptoms that we observe are, for example: blemished skin, bloating, hormonal fluctuations, weight gain, poor bowel function, headaches or migraines, sleep disorders, itching, PMS (premenstrual syndrome) and food intolerances or a feeling of exhaustion, to name but a few.

As chemicals and many environmental substances, such as heavy metals, cannot be metabolized by the body, impaired liver function increases the toxic load on the body and leads to chemical intolerance.

FAQ's

Why is the liver so important for our body?

The liver, one of the most important organs in the body, filters the blood, eliminates harmful microorganisms and controls the growth of body cells. It aids digestion by producing bile and stores nutrients while regulating blood sugar levels. A healthy liver is therefore crucial for our general well-being.

Which symptoms indicate liver problems?

Signs of possible liver problems can include jaundice, tiredness, loss of appetite, abdominal pain and dark urine. However, it is often not noticed until later that something is wrong, as many liver diseases do not show any symptoms at first. Regular examinations are important to detect potential problems at an early stage.

What can I do for my liver myself?

Make sure you eat a balanced diet rich in fruit, vegetables, wholegrain products and lean protein. Regular physical activity will help you avoid obesity and reduce the risk of fatty liver disease. Also drink plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated and support your liver.
